History of HomeTech
| Over 30 years ago, two young,
energetic men decided to start a company to provide much
needed unit cost estimating and business management
information to contractors. So in 1965, Henry Reynolds
and Walt Stoeppelwerth founded HomeTech. The first
edition of the HomeTech Remodeling & Renovation Cost
Estimator was a shirt pocket sized, 122 page publication.
Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Stoeppelwerth worked hard with a very small staff to produce an estimating product that the remodeling contractor could use. But they found that reaching the contractors through traditional means was difficult, so they began giving seminars on unit cost estimating and business management. |

Mr. Stoeppelwerth, better known
to remodelers across the country as Walt, began traveling
the country giving seminars to thousands of contractors
as Mr. Reynolds continued to perfect the cost estimator
and build a solid foundation for the successful company
HomeTech would grow into. Today HomeTech is one of the largest publishers of estimating books and software.
